Margaret's Hope Second Flush Darjeeling 125g tin , loose leaf tea, Steenbergs details and description

Steenbergs single estate 2nd flush Darjeeling Tea, loose leaf,  comes from the Margaret's Hope Tea Estate just below the Sonada Station in Darjeeling.  Margaret's Hope is one of the most famous tea gardens and comes with a romantic - but sad - story attached.

During the 1930’s, the tea garden was owned by Mr. Bagdon who lived in London but visited the tea garden regularly. He had two daughters. The younger daughter named Margaret, who fell in love with the tea estate when she first clapped eyes on it and hoped one day she would be able to return.  However, she fell ill on board ship during the return trip to England and died soon afterwards.  In her memory, her father changed the tea garden’s name to Margaret’s Hope.

The tea bushes at Margaret’s Hope are mainly Chinese Jat which gives it a green leafed tippy appearance and floral Darjeeling style fragrance. Because the tea is grown at such high altitudes and in relatively cool weather the tea bushes do not grow quickly. The best quality from Margaret's Hope is from the second-flush, hence we have chosen at Steenbergs this second flush tea with a FTGFOP1 grade.  The fragrance and taste of Steenbergs Margaret's Hope Darjeeling loose Tea is the classic flavours of new mown grass and the muscatel fruitiness of muscat grapes.

How to make Margaret's Hope Darjeeling loose leaf Tea - into a warmed teapot, put 1 teaspoon of Margaret's Hope Darjeeling Tea per cup.  Bring fresh water to the boil and then pour over the Margaret's Hope Darjeeling Tea and brew for 3 - 5 minutes.  Don't leave the tea leaves to stew!

One of the specially selected single estate loose leaf fine teas from Steenbergs that are packed in the Steenbergs tea tins.
