Ingredients

What to do

  1. Wash and soak split beans overnight. Drain. Add some salt to beans. Heat the ghee. Add whole red chillies, when they turn black remove ghee from heat and cool a little. Mix all remaining ingredients with sliced onions. Spread evenly over the ghee. Then over the onions spread the beans. Do not stir. Do not add water.
  2. Close the pan with tight seal, eg with pastry. On low heat cook for 1½ hours. Before serving, remove onions and discard, stir beans with ghee.
  3. serve with pitta, or warm wraps
