Black Sesame Seed 60g details and description

Sesame is one of the earliest plants that was grown just for its seeds - ancient Egyptians and the Babylonians used ground sesame in their breads.  Black sesame seeds are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids.  They are popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisine.

Black sesame seeds are jet black small seeds that have a slightly earthy aroma and a pleasant, mildly nutty taste. They also add a nice crunchiness to your cooking when added as a garnish at the end.  Lightly roasting enhances the nutty flavour of black sesame seeds.  

Black sesame seeds can be used as they are or lightly roasted then sprinkled over rice, cooked vegetables or seaweed, or try coating fish with Steenbergs black sesame seed.  Or how about sprinkling over a green salad or quinoa salad for an added bite to the texture.
