Pearls of Samarkand organic Fairtrade sour cherries are grown by small farmer groups in the scenic environment of Samrakand, Uzbekistan. The sour cherries are harvested when fully ripe and on the same day pitted, sun-dried and sorted at their processing plant - Silk Road Organik Foods. It takes 1 kilo of fresh cherries to prduce 100g of dried organic sour cherries.

There aren't many areas in the world where you can still find wild growing sour cherries. Samarkand is home to this rarity.

This original type of sour cherry is characterised above all by its intensive taste and high acid content, making it ideal as as snack, for baking, cooking and mueslis
