Steenbergs Persian Blue Salt, from an ancient salt lake in Iran, is a chunky crystal of 2-5mm in size, with a pinky-white general colour and a hint of blue that comes in flecks of intense azure like richly painted tiles on a mosque rather than being blue through and through.  Steenbergs Persian Blue Salt has a warming blue colour rather than the often cold hues that come from harsher blue colours.  Think sunshine and blue.  Steenbergs Persian Blue is a dry salt.  The blue colour may come from sylvite (potassium chloride) within the sodium chloride crystal structure.

The delightful colours of this speciality salt look fab on your dinner table, ideally in a clear grinder, as the crystals are too hard to crunch between your fingers as a table salt.  Steenbergs Persian Blue Salt's mysterious blue colours have a simple practical salty taste - sharp, clean and salty - without any overtones of the sea or additional mineral flavours. So it looks good, then has a mild, salty-sweet flavour than enhances all your foods.  Try with exotic fish or ground over carpaccio.
