Fruity sushi with grilled Halloumi

Sweet and salty, cinnamon infused sushi bites to temp your guests at a party The unusual combination of melon, orange and halloumi work really well with the cinnamon and nori strips

Ingredients

What to do

  1. Slice and prepare all fruit
  2. Add the honey, cinnamon, cardamom, ground ginger and star anise
  3. Cover the fruit and let macerate for at least 4 hours to let the spices work their magic
  4. prepare the Sushi rice according to the packet: rinse several times till the water runs clear before starting the cooking process.
  5. put into a pan and add 660ml cold water and the zest of one orange and cover with a lid
  6. cook for 10 minutes using a timer
  7. Remove from the heat and keep the pan lid on
  8. Ignore the rice for 30 minutes, don't be tempted to lift the lid
  9. Dry fry your halloumi in a non stick shallow pan while the rice is cooling
  10. Spread the rice evenly onto a sheet of greasproof paper or use a shushi block maker if you have one
  11. Cut the rice into small even bite sized pieces
  12. Arrange the fruit and halloumi on top of the rice in single overlapping layers
  13. wrap each piece in a nori seaweed strip and decorate with rose petals and pistachios
  14. fridge until the party

NOTE: RICE SHOULD BE KEPT IN THE FRIDGE ONCE COOKED AND EATEN WITHING 24 HOURS IDEALLY.
