Product Description
Chipotle chillis are dried, smoked jalapeños. They are coffee coloured and look wrinkled and leathery. They have a mild heat, a toasted nuttiness and spicy heat with hints of sweet chocolate. Chipotle flakes have a heat level of around 5/10, equivalent 2500-5000 Scoville heat units.
Chipotle Chilli Flakes add a smoky richness to anything wet – soups, salsas, guacamole. Add to vegetarian or vegan stews for a smoky flavour.
Axel’s Tasting Notes: Smoky, nutty, slightly bitter with a decent heat.
To make dry chilpotle chillis, the fresh chillies are dried in a closed smoking chamber. A wood fire is made in the firebox and smoke enters the chamber. It takes three days for the moisture levels to be brought down to 10% and to infuse the jalapeño with the smoky flavour. Roughly, 100kg of fresh chillies gives 10 – 20 kg of dried chilli chilpotle spice.

Glass: Reuse, Widely Recycled. Metal Lid: Reuse, Widely Recycled. To remove the labels: the best way is to apply heat with a hairdryer and then they peel off.
