Steenbergs Genmaicha Green Tea

• Genmaicha is a popular Japanese tea which is made from green tea and roasted brown rice.
• Genmaicha’s umami taste comes from the flavours of the green tea and the toasted brown rice.
• The rice sometimes bursts open like popcorn, so it’s also known as ‘Popcorn Tea’.

Tea brewing: One level teaspoon per person into a pot or mug filter, add freshly drawn boiling water that’s cooled down a little (85C). Brew for about 4 – 5 minutes.

Tasting notes: a mix of coarse green tea leaves and toasted brown rice. The brew is pale green, with flavours that are lightly herbaceous with mildly burnt finish.
