Product Description

Steenbergs Madagascan Voatsiperifery Pepper is a type of pepper, Piper borbonense. It’s similar to cubeb pepper.

Steenbergs Voatsiperifery Pepper is wild harvested in a Madagascan natural forest on an organic cocoa estate. They are called Voatsiperifery deriving from Voa meaning the fruits and tsiperifery which is Malagasy for pepper. The wild pepper vines grow high in the trees. The fruits only grow on the young, new grown shoots. They are hand-harvested by farmers who go into the forest to pick them once a year. The wild pepper berries look similar to cubeb pepper but are smaller. Voatsiperifery Pepper are 3 mm long ovals with a 5 – 6mm long tail.

Steenbergs Madagascan Voatsiperifery Pepper is brown-black like normal black pepper. Its flavours are long lasting.
