Steenbergs Organic Vindaloo Curry Powder is Steenbergs version of this classic hot Indian curry powder. For those who like their curries a bit more fiery!
A creation of the Portuguese-Indian community in Goa, vindaloo is usually made with pork. Named by combining the Portuguese words for wine (vinho) and garlic (alhos), its a classic.
Historically, vindaloo was made with wine, but wine that had become a little vinegary on its trip from Lisbon in Portugal.
Vindaloo probably began as a simple Indian curry style stew for the Portuguese colonists, however it is now a symbol of a truly hot Indian curry meal.
Created and blended at the Steenbergs spice factory in North Yorkshire.
