Steenbergs Rose Pekoe loose leaf tea is an aromatic black tea is a classic China black Congou tea leaf from Anhui that has been naturally flavoured with delicate rose petals. It’s one of the oldest forms of flavouring tea in China – literally the black tea is sandwiched with fresh rose petals and left to absorb their flavours. The underlying black tea is smooth and has no bitterness, the rose is rosy, floral.
Rose Pekoe is a great afternoon tea, with a sort of Victorian country garden vibe to it – I could imagine this being drunk in Oscar Wilde’s ‘Importance of Being Earnest’ (Act 2, Part 2) with an argument over whether or not it should be with or without sugar, amongst other social vulgarities!
Tea brewing: Use a warmed tea-pot and put 1 heaped teaspoon per person of Rose Pekoe Tea leaves into the pot, add freshly boiled water and leave to infuse for 5 minutes. Serve without milk.
Tasting notes: Light brown liquor, with a smooth and mild tea flavour and distinct rose floral notes.
Store in a cool, dark place.
Carton: Widely Recycled; Bag: Compostable.
