£3.00 £6.67/100g

Anise Seeds are tiny, oval and crescent-shaped. These pale brown seeds have a clear liquorice flavour that’s not too strong or lingering.
Organic Aniseed goes well scattered through bread dough as in Scandinavian rye breads or chicken pies, in Indian vegetable curries and also in vegetable soups. Anise seed makes a good tea and is great as a digestif after a large meal.
Axel’s Tasting Notes: Sweet: distinct liquorice flavour but not too lingering.
More about Anise
Anise is a delicate, annual herb of the parsley family, which grows to 50 cm tall. It has feathery, flat, serrated leaves with a shape similar to the Italian flat parsley you get in the supermarkets.
The anise spice is harvested after the plant has flowered in late summer by picking the seed heads and drying these in a warm, ventilated area with some direct sunlight; when dry, the heads are rubbed to separate the seeds from the flowers and then sieved.
Aniseed spice consists of two tiny seeds (3 mm long), which have a mild, sweet licorice flavour that does not linger.
