Steenbergs Baihao Oolong

Baihao is a semi-oxidized tea with a high rate of oxidation of 50% – 70%. Steenbergs Baihao Oolong comes from Xinhui in Northern Taiwan. Xinhui is humid and wet compared to the rest of Taiwan. Baihao is harvested in summer around August. It is really a treat for when you’re in a quiet, contemplative mood.

Baihao Oolong brews smooth and sweet, with almost no astringency but a delicate bitterness. It has a lovely flowery aroma of ripe peaches and sweet magnolia-flavoured honey, perhaps with a mild spiciness reminiscent of cinnamon.

Tea brewing: Use a warmed tea-pot and put 1 teaspoon of Baihao Oolong into the pot, add freshly boiled water and infuse for 3 – 10 minutes. It will go for 5 successive infusions.

Tasting notes: brown-black leaves, bronze brew, radiant complexity – floral, honeyed, vanilla.
