Product Description

Steenbergs Organic Cloves whole are from Sri Lanka. This nail-shaped spice has an aroma that’s pungent, warm, aromatic and camphor-like.

Cloves have a flavour that’s medicinal, cleansing, warming and lingering – for some folk, cloves have a numbing sensation.

Their strongly aromatic flavour with a camphor-like woodiness goes well in curries and aromatic dishes, or pop a few into your mulled wine or cider for a warming drink in the winter months.

A classic is to stud cooked ham with whole cloves, add a little honey or dark sugar over it and roast in the oven for maybe 30 minutes or more to give an intense flavour. Another classic use is to stud an onion with them to flavour milk when making bread sauce. Steenbergs organic cloves whole are great for adding to pickling spice.

Cloves are Pungent: intensely medicinal with a warming woody, sweetness.
