Product Description

Steenbergs East Frisian Tea is our medium strength loose leaf, black breakfast tea. It typifies the breakfast blends you get in Germany and Northern Europe, which are much lighter (weaker) than the British or Irish cuppa. Steenbergs East Frisian Tea is a lighter and more flowery loose leaf breakfast tea versus your typical East Frisian Teas, or English and Irish Breakfast Teas.

Axel created the blend around larger leafed, tippy teas from several of the better estates in Assam to give the tea a solid rich taste with all that classic maltiness and astringency that you would expect from tea from these districts, but with extra floral, herbaceous notes coming from the fact that these are much better pickings than normally associated with everyday morning tea blends. To these, Steenbergs has rounded the Assam taste off by building in a touch of class with some Darjeeling and high grown Lovers’ Leap from Ceylon. Steenbergs East Frisian Tea is an exquisite and sophisticated way to start your day.

Tea brewing: Boil freshly drawn water, then pour on the tea leaves. For a mug: Put 1 teaspoon per cup of East Frisian Tea and steep for about 5 minutes. For a pot: Put 1 teaspoon of East Frisian Tea per cup into the pot; steep for about 5 minutes. It’s up to you whether to add milk or sugar, but it’s best drunk without either in our opinion.

Axel’s tasting notes: East Frisian is a light black tea brew.
