Himalayan pink salt is mined from salt deposits in the Potwar Plateau of Pakistani Punjab.  Himalayan pink salt comes from an ancient sea salt deposit in sedimentary rock dating back 290-543 million years ago – so it is old.

There are about 6.7 billion tons of rock salt, of which 220 million are currently commercially viable. That’s a lot of salt.

Himalayan Pink Salt is 97-99% pure salt/NaCl. It has a transparent pinky hue.
