Kashmiri Chilli Powder is a type of chilli powder that’s often called for in Indian recipes. It has a mild heat. It’s got a bright red colour.
Kashmiri Chilli is milder than other chilli powders, with a pleasant nutty taste, plus a deeper red colour, with some similarity to paprika. Kashmiri chilli is often called deggi mirch. It has a warm aroma and a mild chilli heat with a slight nutty sweetness. Use it in Indian curry recipes or if you see paprika in a curry recipe, you can substitute it with Kashmiri Chilli.
For Kashmiri Chilli, the heat is 14,000 Scoville units with capsaicin levels of 446 mg/kg.
