Steenbergs Kitchari Spice Mix is Axel’s take on this classic Ayurvedic spice blend for making kitchari. We were asked to develop this by a Hindu charity tackling food poverty in London in 2018. To make Kitchari, Steenbergs toasts the key seeds, then grinds and blends these together to make a rich and pungent spice mix, created for vegan cooking and works really well with all pulses and rice dishes. Kitchari is traditionally a mix of rice and lentils cooked with this blend of spices, used for within Ayurvedic cooking as a cleansing dish.
