Steenbergs Organic Migli Tisane

Axel remembers coming across this tea in a Madhur Jaffrey book: ‘I’d been looking for some time for a tea-less chai or a spice drink that you could make without anything extra added into it. Migli tea seemed to be the answer, being effectively chai spices, i.e., mainly cinnamon, flavoured with anise seed, ginger and some cloves.’

Traditionally, migli would be brewed up in the Middle East on the birth of a child. The exotic spices and some sugar are boiled up together with water then enjoyed in the house’s most special cups, savoured while everybody dotes on the new born child.

Tea brewing: Boil freshly drawn water, then pour on the tea leaves. For a mug: Put 1 teaspoon of Migli per cup and steep for about 5 minutes. For a pot: Put 1 teaspoon of Migli per cup into the pot; steep for about 5 minutes.

Tasting notes: Migli tastes of anise sweetness with sweet chai spices.
