Steenbergs Organic Nilgiri Green Tea

Steenbergs organic Nilgiri Tea (FOP) is a wonderfully fresh, high grown loose green tea from the Nilgiri Blue Mountains in Southern India. Currently, our green Nilgiri comes from Korakundah, an estate established in 1922 and at about 8,200 feet, making it one of the highest tea estates in the world.

Steenbergs Nilgiri Tea has big long leaves and brews a light green infusion with a clean, straw-like flavour, a mild bitterness and a slightly astringent finish. As with the black teas from this region, we love them for their simple no-nonsense flavour, without oppressive bitterness or maltiness that can overpower many teas.

Tea brewing: one teaspoon of Steenbergs organic Nilgiri Green Tea per mug or person. Add freshly drawn, just off the boil water, then steep for 3 minutes.

Tasting notes: classic light green tea with hints of marine, a light bitterness, general clean and direct green flavours.
