Product Description

Steenbergs Organic Nutmeg Ground is a premium gourmet spice. It’s an under-used spice with a distinctive pungent fragrance and a warm, slightly sweet taste.

Traditionally, nutmeg is used in baking and puddings, but nutmeg powder can be sprinkled on any cooked vegetable. Just add butter, some lemon and organic ground nutmeg to steamed spinach to lift its flavour.

Steenbergs sources the highest quality organic Nutmeg Ground from Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Organic nutmeg has a sweet, pungent aroma and a pine-like, camphorous taste. Use nutmeg in Indian curries, sprinkled over spinach, to flavour the white sauce in lasagne or add to rice puddings or junket. Sprinkle a little over your coffee for a robust spiciness.

Axel’s Tasting Notes: Sweet; bittersweet, aromatic, camphorous and warming.

Food Pairing: Baking, milk puddings (rice pudding), spinach, carrots, cheese dishes, egg dishes, chowders, pumpkin pie, sweet potato, spinach.
