Standard Jar 4g
£3.00 £75.00/100g

Steenbergs sources the highest quality organic curry leaves from Sri Lanka, which we hand pack in small batches for optimal freshness.
Organic curry leaves do not taste of curry but are used in curry dishes in South India and Sri Lanka.
These curry leaves are a slightly musky, spicy herb that adds a citrussy, slightly bitter flavour to curries. The leaves are used particularly in Kerala and Madras style curries. At Steenbergs, we like to use a decent handful in our everyday red lentil dhal.
Axel’s Tasting Notes: Mildly Herbal; Musky, hints of spice.
More about Curry Leaves
Curry leaves come from the leaves of a deciduous tropical tree, Murraya koenigii. M. koenigii grows to 4 m tall, has a slender trunk that supports a series of thin stems with drooping leaves. Curry leaves vary in size from 3 – 7 cm long and 1 – 2 cm in width. While it is deciduous, because of the fecund tropical climate, curry leaves tend to be available all year around.
Fresh curry leaves are distinctly citrus in aroma and flavour with a delicious acrid note that stimulates your taste buds. Curry leaves can be dried sucessfully, but do lose some of their freshness. If you can find fresh, they’re much better but here in the North it’s a case of needs must.
