Steenbergs Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice

Steenbergs Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix is an American bakery classic. It’s based on a Betty Crocker recipe for Pumpkin Pie from the 1960s. In fact, the recipe book was a gift to Axel’s mum when she got married to his father.

Pumpkin Pie should be the essence of golden pumpkins and flavourful with spices. Pumpkins or ‘pompions’ were a standby of early new England settlements. Steenbergs Organic Pumpkin Pie Mix gives the mashed cooked pumpkin that sweet aromatic flavour, and is based on a classic American recipe using sweet spices – cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves – and a bit of warmth from ginger. It’s essential for Thanksgiving.

To use: Add one or two teaspoons of Steenbergs Organic Pumpkin Pie per tin of mashed pumpkin, or 1.75 cups mashed cooked pumpkin, for a proper American pumpkin pie – the essence of golden pumpkin flavoured with spices.
