Steenbergs Organic Redbush

Organic Redbush Tea (Rooibos) is a lovely, rich herbal tea. Steenbergs organic Redbush (Rooibos) is low in tannin, caffeine-free, is naturally sweet and malty in taste and is rich in essential minerals. And just like ‘tea’ teas, it’s packed full of antioxidants. Organic Redbush is great as a caffeine-free tea substitute.
Just north of Cape Town, South Africa, there is a relatively untouched herbal tea called rooibos, the leaves are processed to bring the wonderful herbal tisane that’s hugely popular in South Africa. Rooibos, or Redbush, comes from this small bush, which is 1 – 2 metres high, with roots that dig much deeper into the soil, hunting for water in the arid soils where it grows. To make red rooibos, the leaves are cut, crushed, oxidised and dried in the sun.
Tea brewing: brew the European way with 1 teaspoon of rooibos leaf tea per 2-cup pot (2.5g per 180ml water). Add boiling water, infuse for 4 minutes. Do not add milk. In South African it is brewed stronger, with milk and sugar. Double the quantity and the brewing time.
Tasting notes: Full bodied with rich, warm and rounded, with nutty notes and a hint of sweet honey.
