Product Description

Organic Rose Petals are grown for us in Bulgaria. Steenbergs Organic Rose Petals are from the damask rose. They’re the same roses as used to make Steenbergs Organic Rose Water.

Rose petals are popular in the Middle East, North Africa and India. In India, dried rose is powdered for marinades and kormas, for sprinkling on rice, added to desserts like gulab jamun. or for making sherbets. In Iran, rose petals are mixed with cinnamon and cardamom to flavour rice or added as a garnish to hummus, yoghurt or cucumber. Rose petals are great with fruits like apples, apricots or quinces, and we combine rose with cardamom when boiling carrots.

Axel’s Tasting Notes: Floral; delicately floral perfume.

More about Rose Petals

Rose Petals are picked from the damask rose, Rosa damascena.

Roses are hardy deciduous shrubs, which prickly stems and grow to 2 metres high. They produce fragrant pink flowers. Rose Petals are picked in early summer in the morning when they have fullest aroma and flavour and then are dried.

There is very little volatile oil (less than 1%) in rose petals so the aroma and flavour is truly subtle.
