Steenbergs Organic Rwandan Black Tea Rukeri

Steenbergs Rwandan Organic Black Tea – Rukeri OP1 – is a full bodied, loose leaf tea that’s got some maltiness, a light astringency and sweet notes. Rukeri is a high grown African tea from Rwanda, on a tea plantation that includes both Chinese and Assam Jat tea bushes. It’s a classic of its type. Steenbergs Rukeri OP1 is akin to a lighter Assam tea, with a bright, shiny infusion that can be drunk all through the day.

Tea brewing: Put 1 teaspoon per cup plus 1 for the pot, if brewing a larger pot. Warm the pot. Boil some freshly drawn water and immediately pour over the Rukeri tea. Leave to brew for around 5 minutes. Enjoy on its own or with some milk and/or even a bit of sugar.

Tasting notes: Bright red-brown brew; tastes medium bodied, with maltiness, a light astringency and perhaps hints of cacao.
