Steenbergs Organic White Downy Tea

Organic White Downy Tea is a premium white tea. It is rich in buds with a dark green leaf tending to yellow with lots of white leaves.

For white downy teas, it is only the bud and adjacent leaf that are picked, which are rolled by hand into a ‘sparrow’s tongue’ leaf shape. This gives pale green and white leaves. White Downy tea has a herbaceous and floral aroma, with a brew that’s pale gold, a texture that is quite astringent and a taste that’s got an acidity and a light umami.

Tea brewing: Into a warmed teapot, put in 1 teaspoon of White Downy Tea per cup. Bring fresh water to boil, allow to cool a bit (75C) and pour over White Downy Tea. Steep for 3 – 4 minutes. Do not add milk nor any sugar.

Tasting notes: pale gold infusion, a well-balanced tea with some acidity; light and bright.
