Steenbergs Organic Yerba Mate

Organic Maté is a rich and robust alternative to traditional tea, naturally containing about the same caffeine as black tea, that’s really popular across South America. It has a slightly bitter, smooth and woody taste. Yerba Maté comes from the dried, roasted leaves of the yerba maté plant, a type of holly – Ilex paraguayensis.

Tea brewing: Boil freshly drawn water, then pour on the tea leaves. For a mug: Put 1 teaspoon per cup and steep for about 5 minutes. For a pot: Put 1 teaspoon per cup; steep for about 5 minutes.

Tasting notes: Slightly bitter, smooth and woody, with a smokiness from the roasting.
