Steenbergs Organic Cajun Ragin’ Spice Blend is our authentic Cajun-style seasoning that only uses natural ingredients. It is a hot, peppery spice blend created for Louisiana-style blackened chicken, fish or seafood, especially tiger prawns or tuna.

This Deep South profile comes from the authentic combination of herbs and spices:

• A deep red colour and sweet heat comes from a base of paprika with a little cayenne pepper;
• A warming, oily pungent heat is from a mix of black pepper and white pepper;
• Sea salt enhances the flavours of whatever you’re cooking and entices your taste buds;
• Onion and garlic have a fresh sharpness;
• Fennel gives some anise flavour and cinnamon a woody perfume;
• Basil provides a fresh spicy herbiness as does the thyme, with parsley having a clean herb flavour.

Have your tried: adding a healthy sprinkle of this peppery blend to your tuna or pork steak, and don’t forget to add it if making your own beef burgers! Make your mashed potato dance with a teaspoonful! Cajun Ragin’ is also great with tofu, cauliflower, aubergine, butternut squash, vegan chicken, tempeh and jackfruit.

Sprinkle some of this spice blend onto beef, chicken or fish and let it infuse with flavour for 15 minutes then fry, grill or barbecue. If you want a blackened look, fry the seasoned meat in butter, because the burnt butter is what makes the blackening effect.
