Steenbergs Organic Piri Piri Seasoning, or Peri Peri, is one of Steenbergs’ authentic spice blends that only uses natural ingredients.
Piri Piri is a popular hot seasoning, particularly for chicken. Steenbergs Organic Piri Piri has been created for a spicy seasoning to make this South African spiced chicken dish.
Piri piri is a general name for chillis in South Africa and parts of India, sometimes pili pili. So, piri piri powders are usually a mix of chillis and piri piri sauce is a chile sauce, both with a tangy flavour. Think of it as the South African equivalent of a chile powder as you’d get in America.
Our version is not as hot as pure chilli. It’s a warming chilli and paprika blend, freshened up with garlic, ginger and oregano.
To use: Mix 2 tsp of Piri Piri Spices with 1 tbsp of oil and a little lemon juice, drizzle over chicken and leave to marinade for hour in the fridge before grilling or roasting in the oven.
