Old Hamlet Wine & Spice Whisky Toddy Spices Fairtrade – Printed Cotton Bag

Old Hamlet’s Fairtrade Whisky Toddy Blend is a mix of sugar and spices to make a classic whisky toddy.

This version is the printed calico bag which has been the classic Old Hamlet packaging.

Old Hamlet’s Fairtrade Whisky Toddy Mix was created in 1990s as a simple-to-use mix that would perfectly flavour two glasses of warming whisky toddy. The only change since then is that the recipe has contained Fairtrade ingredients since 2006.

Hand-blended in small batches in North Yorkshire (at the Steenbergs spice factory).  Its then packed into four single-serve sachets, and presented in printed cotton drawstring bag – sewn in the UK.

How to make whisky toddy: Add 450 ml (three-quarters of a pint) of fresh cold water into a saucepan, then add the contents of one Whisky Toddy sachet. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally till the sugar has dissolved. remove from the heat. Add 50ml (two measures) of whisky to the spicy syrup. Reheat, but do not let boil. Serve hot, perhaps with a slice of lemon and a pinch of ground nutmeg.
