Dark chocolate orange oat biscuits recipe

Ingredients

For the recipe:
  • 125g unsalted butter, softened
  • 150g light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp Steenbergs orange extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp mixed spice
  • 150g wholemeal spelt flour
  • 75g rolled oats
  • 1 bar of 85% Divine Dark Chocolate, broken into small chunks

A deliciously satisfying biscuit made with oats & spelt flour, flavoured with orange extract & cinnamon and packed with 85% dark chocolate chunks!

Makes 18-20 biscuits

Method

01
Preheat the oven to 180C
02
In a stand mixer, blend the butter and sugar until soft and fluffy
03
Crack in the egg and combine.
04
Combine the oats, flour, cinnamon and mixed spice in a bowl then add to the butter mixture; combine well.
05
Add the orange extract and dark chocolate chunks and stir to combine.
06
Using a dessert spoon to help you, roll out 18-20 balls of dough and space out on 2 lined baking trays.
07
Slightly flatten the balls, place the trays in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until slightly golden.
08
Leave to cool slightly on the tray (so that the chocolate isn't still molten!) before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
09
Delicious with an uplifting cup of afternoon tea.
