Steenbergs Madagascan Salt

Madagascan Bourbon Salt is a pure salt with a clean white colour.
It is processed by women from the Ankazombalala Rural Commune in south-west Madagascar. Three villages make Madagascan Bourbon Salt, or Siratany, which translates to ‘salt of the earth’ in Malagasy.
Women collect soil from unique sites, then mix the soil with water and filter the soil through reed sieves. This separates the salt from the soil. The brine is then boiled to remove the water. This leaves behind pure siratany. This is packed and shipped direct to Steenbergs.
Madagascan Bourbon Salt has a light mineral flavour and a relatively low sodium content.
Store in a cool, dark place.
