Product Description

Steenbergs Organic Ethiopian Berbere spice mix is one of Steenbergs’ authentic spice blends that only uses natural ingredients.

Steenbergs Organic Berbere is an Ethiopian curry spice mix that has a coarse earthy texture. This spice blend can be used as a dry spice mix or used as the base for a Berbere Paste.

Berbere has a pungent, fragrant spiciness and some heat. Some Ethiopian berbere mixes can be very hot but we’ve kept ours milder to be more agreeable for most folk’s tastebuds. You can always add more chilli or chilli flakes if you like it hotter.

To use, rub onto red and white meats or fish before frying, grilling or baking.

To make Ethiopian Berbere paste: fry some chopped onion with 1 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp paprika, 3 tbsp Steenbergs Berbere Spices until golden brown; store in your fridge and use to flavour stews.

This organic spice mix has been blended in North Yorkshire at the Steenbergs spice factory.
