Hot Spicy beans Recipe
Delicious hot and spicy homemade baked beans!
Ingredients
| 1 tbsp | olive oil |
| 1 | red onion, finely chopped |
| 1 | clove of garlic, peeled & finely chopped |
| 1 x 400g | tin of chopped tomatoes |
| 1 tsp | Steenbergs organic Texas Chilli seasoning |
| 1 tsp | balsamic vinegar |
| 1 tsp | Worcestershire sauce |
| 1 tsp | sugar |
| 1 x 400g tin of | cannellini beans (although you can use haricot beans or another bean of your choice) |
| To serve | parsley, chopped |
Method
- Heat the olive oil in a heavy bottomed saucepan and sauté the chopped red onion for 5 minutes. Add in the chopped garlic and sauce for a further 5 minutes until soft.
- Add in 1 tsp of Texas seasoning (less if you don't want it too hot) and cook for a minute.
- Add in the tomatoes, Worcestshire sauce, balsamic vinegar and sugar, bring to the boil and then turn down the heat to simmer for 10 minutes.
- Finally add in the cannellini beans and simmer for a further 10-15 minutes until the sauce has reduced a little.
- Serve on toast or as a side dish with fish.
