110g/4oz | caster sugar |
2 | free-range eggs, lightly beaten |
¼ tsp | Steenbergs Organic vanilla paste (or Steenbergs organic Fairtrade vanilla extract) |
110g/4oz | self-raising flour |
1-2 tbsp | milk |
140g/5oz | butter, softened |
280g/10oz | icing sugar |
1-2 tbsp | milk |

For the buttercream, beat all the ingredients together until smooth.
This is the fun bit!!!
You can mix into you buttercream whatever flavour you like.
Some ideas:
2-3 tsp Steenbergs organic Lemon extract, 2-3 tsp Steenbergs organic orange extract, 2-3 tsp Steenbergs organic rose sugar, 2-3 tsp Steenbergs organic Lavender sugar, 2-3 tsp Steenbergs organic peppermint extract and if you are feeling brave ½ tsp Steenbergs organic chilli powder!!!!
You can then top your cakes with everything from Steenbergs organic rose petals or cornflower petals to your favourite sprinkle or candied fruit, whatever takes your fancy or leave it plain with a gorgeous swirl.
