Warming caffeine free chai style spicy drink. The spices makes this drink have a nice warming kick and the anise seed is a great complement to the ginger and cinnamon, balanced by the cloves, full of wonderful aromas.

Steenbergs Organic Migli Spiced Tea 70g, loose leaf details and description

Migli Tea is something Axel came across when reading Maddhur Jaffrey's books.  "I had been looking for some time for a tea-less chai or a spice drink that you could make without anything extra added into it.  Migli tea seemed to be the answer, being effectively chai spices, i.e. mainly cinnamon, flavoured with anise seed, ginger and some cloves."

Traditionally, migli would be brewed up in the Middle East on the birth of a child.  The exotic spices and some sugar are boiled up together with water then enjoyed in the house's most special cups, savoured while everybody dotes on the new born child.  You do not need a baby to enjoy it, so here is the Steenbergs version of Organic Migli Tea.

Tea brewing: Place 5tsp (heaped) of Migli into a pan, together with 3tsp (heaped) of sugar.  Bring a kettle of freshly drawn water to the boil, then add 1 litre (1¾ pints) of this heated water into the pan and bring to the boil.  Let the Migli mixture gently simmer for 10 minutes.  Strain and pour into 3 mugs. (for one mug just use 1 3/4 tsp of migli spice, 1 tsp of sugar, of whatever sweetener you prefer and one large mug's worth of water.)
