Sophie's comment

The aroma of these biscuits is wonderful, even opening the biscuit tin when they are in there is enough to make your mouth water. Traditionally they are made in molds with images such as windmills and we were excited to buy one of these molds on a recent trip to Belgium. The texture is slightly harder than a normal biscuit and is delicious - a real family favourite.

For anyone who wants to make the complex biscuits try the Steenbergs organic speculoos spice blend. Speculoos biscuits are also known as Speculaas or Spekulatius

Speculoos biscuits are found in Northern Europe including the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany. They are generally thin and very crunchy and traditionally are created in speculoos mold. Very tasty but give yourself time as takes 24 hours to make, as you need to leave the mixture overnight.

Ingredients of Steenbergs organic speculoos spice mix: organic cassia, organic nutmeg, organic cloves, organic ginger, organic black pepper, organic cardamom and organic anise seed.
