400g | can of chickpeas (don’t drain away liquid!) |
80ml | chickpea brine from the can, or as needed |
3 tbsp | extra virgin olive oil, plus extra for serving |
1 | lemon, juice only |
2 tbsp | tahini |
1/2 tsp | cumin |
1/2 tsp | salt, or to taste |
1/4 tsp | black pepper, or to taste |
400g | white onion, finely diced |
Half a head | garlic, peeled and roughly chopped |
1 tbsp | butter |
1 tbsp | brown sugar |
1 tbsp | ground turmeric |
salt & black pepper, to taste (or Steenbergs organic perfect salt) |
