Farmhouse Loaf Recipe & Variations On A Theme
The classic farmhouse loaf recipe uses a bead-maker.
Ingredients
| 1tsp | dry baker's yeast |
| 500g | organic strong white bread flour |
| 1tbsp | sugar (or 1½tbsp Fairtrade honey) |
| 25g | butter |
| 1tsp | Steenbergs Organic natural sea salt |
| 150ml | organic milk |
| 200ml | water |
Variations on a theme:
| 2tbsp | Steenbergs organic mixed herbs or Steenbergs organic rosemary |
| 1tbsp | organic onion powder |
| 2tbsp | organic cumin seeds |
Method
- Put the ingredients into the bread-maker. If you are doing one of the 3 variations, add these after the natural sea salt and before the liquids.
- Start the basic bread-maker programme with the crust of your choice, i.e. dark or light.
- Just before baking, brush the top of the dough with water and sprinkle with organic flour, or if preferred, the herbs or seeds.
- After baking, remove from the machine and cool on a wire rack.
